Three Day Option
As kindergarten teachers, we know that not every child is ready to begin attending kindergarten five full days a week in the fall. Therefore, we allow our parents to choose to enroll their child for either three (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) or five days a week. Parents are allowed to change their enrollment options at the end of each trimester (December and March).

Every August, the "three-day students" are evenly divided among the kindergarten sections. Each kindergarten classroom contains a mix of three and five day students. For instance, last fall, I had 27 students in all, 6 of whom were three day students. On M-W-F, my class contained 27 kids; on T-Th it had 21. By May I had only one student attending three days a week, but other sections still had 5. This year 3 of my 20 students will attend on M-W-F only.

In order to ensure that the three day students do not miss major academic material, our teachers introduce new material on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Tuesdays and Thursdays are used for review, enrichment, and extra projects we typically didn't have time for in the past. The kindergarten teachers at Lindbergh feel this has been a very positive alternative in helping young students adjust to school.
