Links for Kids
Below are some fun links for children to check out on the web. Some are educational, some are just for fun. As always, please check with your parents before visiting any new sites.
Sites based on books:
The Magic Schoolbus - This site features the adventures of Ms. Frizzle and gang as they travel on their amazing school bus and learn about science.

Seussville - Visit Seussville for fun and games based on the wonderful books of Dr. Seuss - one of my favorite authors (of course, if you ask my students, you'll learn that I have MANY favorite authors!)

Arthur - A site sponsored by PBS that brings the world of Arthur, created by Marc Brown, to life. You'll find coloring pages, games and more.

The Official Robert Munsch Website - This is another favorite author of mine. He is famous for works such as "Love You Forever" and "50 Below Zero." His site explains where he gets the ideas for all his charming stories.
New Skills:
ASL Dictionary - American Sign Language is a language used by people who can't hear very well. This dictionary helps you learn the alphabet and numbers in sign language. It also has a dictionary feature that lets you look up how to sign a word. Young children may need adult help.

American Symphony Orchestra League - Learn about the instruments in the orchestra at this interactive site. You also get to play games and practice rhythms with the orchestra.

Games Kids Play - This site has descriptions of all the games you'll need to keep you busy all summer!! There are games that your parents played when they were young and many more. Young children will need someone to read the directions for them at this site, but it's well worth a visit!
Other Fun Sites:
The Gaines Gang - This site was created by a kindergarten teacher for the use of her students at school. It has links to various sites that young children can explore independently. This is a great place to visit if you have young children.

Enchanted Learning - Here you will find a picture dictionary and many games designed for young children.

Sesame Street - PBS designed a site based on your favorite characters from this TV program. You can play games, print out coloring sheets, and read on-line stories.

Dole 5 a Day - Dole created this site to help children learn about the importance of fruits in our diet. It includes games, activities and some exciting songs that kids LOVE!

The White House for Kids - A tour of the President's home is lead by Socks the Cat and Buddy the Dog. You can see what life in the White House would be like.

KidsClick! - Berkeley University created a special search engine for children. It also has links to many sites designed for kids, including games and coloring pages.

Bubble Fun - If you like bubbles as much as I do, you'll really enjoy this site! It discusses the science of bubbles, art activities and recipes to make your own bubbles at home.

Homework Central - The bubble site is part of this homework site. There are links to help you learn more about language arts, math, and science topics. All the topics are set up in a very exciting manner - this isn't your typical homework!

Family Activities - A family created this family-friendly site to help you find crafts, seasonal links and other family activities.
